At first i was a bit hesistant to attend this 3-day seminar but as it comes to a close i'm grateful i did. It has improved my knowledge about the use of technology in the classroom. Although some of the points were presented a little bit fast, nevertheless the entirety of the seminar was very good. The activities done were very helpful in my field and in my profession as a teacher. Thanks much sir meoh for the new techniques and ideas I learned from you. I hope that you'll continue your advocacy on helping teachers and schools to become more productive. Please continue to update us about some latest development on the use of technology in the classroom. I would very much appreciate for your comments and suggestions. I am looking forward on more seminars like this. God bless to all!!


Module 3a: Creating Powerful Presentations

Hey! It hands on time!!! This is my fave portion. I learned alot in this module thanks to our energetic sir Meoh!!! clap3x!!! I learned alot, as in.. Ikaw?? yes, ikaw... joke! Technology! This is very helpful to our profession. I will create my quiz using technology when i get home.. uli na tttttaaaaaaaaaaa!!! bye bye!!!

Module 2b: The Learner and the Environment

As a teacher, the learners always come first. That is why before we start to create lesson plans; we have to analyze them through cognitive, psychosocial and physiological characteristics. This is done so that the lessons will also fit the kind of learners we have. By knowing the characteristics, we can understand the behavior of students. hhaaayyy, kapoy sa?? well.... Go! Fight! Win! The lecture was clear and well delivered as usual…

Module 2a: Instructional Model Design

Knowledge of instructional designs is important in creating a lesson. Choosing a design varies, depending on the need of the students you have.

I think I like to use the ASSURE model. It is applicable to the subjects that I am teaching. I do analyze who my students will be, whether Education students, AB or BBA students. Planning is important and I have to set objectives before I move on to selecting my materials, etc.

The speaker started the module with a strategy of designing a t-shirt, which was appropriate to the next topic which was about the instructional models. The speaker has good knowledge of the subject. Sir Meoh is really good it what he does. He has the passion and drive which by the way is contagious. Thanks... after the 3 day seminar, now i am ready to go back to the battle field. heheheh...

Module 1: Pedagogical Perspectives on the Role of Technology in Educations

When the first module was discussed, I said to myself, this is what I was looking for. I am a Physical education teacher and was task to teach ed. tech.This subject by the way is part of the new curriculum in Education. I was only sent to seminar about the course once, what should be the content? It was up to us to implement. I think they chose me to teach the said subject because I’m interested in computers. I had a difficulty in looking for references, books that is because the subject is new. But with this seminar, specifically module one, I know I can do it better this year than I did it last year. Module 1 was simple, and precise and very understandable. The resource speaker is an experienced person, he always connect it to the real world. Congrats!

MODULE 2B – ANALYSIS OF THE LEARNER AND THE ENVIRONMENT


I really like the quotation shared to us by Sir Meoh and I quote “ the essence of education is connection, the key to connection is to understand the learner.”

As a teacher, I believe that one of the factors which will make teaching more productive is learner analysis. The teacher must know who he is dealing with so that he can cater to his needs. When the needs of students are met greater opportunities of learning takes place.

Well, our seminar is almost is over and the thought of going home early is so enticing. But we still have to finish some outputs for evaluation and completion. Sir Meoh, our facilitator and speaker is very accommodating especially to those we are having problems regarding their presentations. Though his presentation yesterday was a bit fast but then he discussed it again for everybody to understand better. A number of clarifications were raised and he was so willing to answer them all. Umm, one more thing...the taught us how to do "magic" (you know what i mean) Thanks! That was cool! We learned so much especially on PowerPoint presentation. Thanks for the extra ideas! Well it's already the last day of our seminar. The 3-day seminar have been very fruitful because we really learned a lot. Personally, I learned a lot from this seminar although sometimes their just too many information that I find it hard to absorb all of it at once. The lectures were a little fast but then we understand that it's because of the time constraint. There were really a lot of things that we're learning and I'm glad that our time was reallly maximized.


I believe we will all go home with new learnings and discoveries and I hope that we would really be able to apply what we've learned on the field.

Well, as a participant in this Classroom Management Enabled by Techchnology seminar,for me this seminar provided us with meaningful and interesting way to improve our teaching strategies.The activities were very informative and enriching.The topics discussed by the facilitators helped us to delve in more about our job.The venue is very conducive to a seminar like this.Facilities were provided for our personal convenience. Comments on the Training


As far as the training entitled "Classroom Management enabled by Technology" is concerned, I find so enriching. It is so helpful in terms of capturing the interest of the students and lengthening their span of attention.
Integrating technolgy in instruction also makes teaching more efficient as well as effective. Efficient because there is less talking and more student activities. Effective because it encourages students to become team players and good collaborators.

My only regret is that as the song goes, "some good things never last" and for this training, it has to end today.

It may also be difficult to apply the knowledge we got from this training in our school stting because we don't have even the simplest learning environment, the 1-computer classroom. I only hope that I can make use of this in the future. Thanks, Sir Meoh! More power to you and to APC center!!!

Question: What are my insights on the role of technology in education?

Technologies are powerful tools for teaching and learning. The infusion and integration of these technologies appropriate in the classroom deserve to be given due attention in the contemporary educational system. Such technology can be used as amplifiers and transformers for the learning environment.

Technology is used as amplifier to increase the intensity of learning – augment the drama of the teaching-learning experience.

Technology is used as transformer to change the learning environment and the teaching-learning process.

Instructional designs should therefore consider these functions of technology.

Module 1 – Pedagogical Perspectives on the Role of Technology in
Education

Technology is indeed a powerful tool in transmitting knowledge to learners. Now that we are in the age of “TECHNOLOGY”, as teachers we must be competent enough to use this in the classroom as avenues for students not only to learn lessons but apply it in the real life situations. It takes a lot of patience to be competent in this field but if we give more attention to its benefits rather than its disadvantages then we become more creative, more productive teachers thus creating learners who are fully equipped, ready to face the inadequacies in life.

I have always believed in the importance of technology in education. The module on the pedagogical perspectives on the role of technology in education has further deepened this belief and encouraged me more to infuse and integrate technology in instruction. I am also resolved to enhance the very limited knowledge that I have about technology in general and computers in particular in the hope of becoming a more effective and efficient teacher. In a way, I feel that I am depriving my students the opportunity for maximum learning by not utilizing the available technology in our school.

Instructional Development Stages and Design Models

Reflections

Before developing an instructional material or module, it is very important to plan first. Of the four design models discussed, the one which is the most applicable to the programs that I’m teaching is the ADDIE Model. ADDIE stands for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate. I’m teaching BS Computer Science and BS Information Technology and it involves making programs or software. It is similar to the System Development Life Cycle but the only difference is that the SDLC has maintenance and Retirement.
Insights on module 1. I understood about tech.infusion and integration and how to amplified and transformed lesson using technology.furthermore,understanding more on the use of technology as a subject and as a tool of instruction.Insights on module 2-a.Intructional design Model.

If I were to choose between the different models,I would prefer the ADDIE model because it is simple to understand. Insight on module 2b.Analysis of the learner and the environment.

I was able to recall some important information on factors that affect student learning,the learners characteristic which is necessary in teaching the desired kind of children who developed disabilities.

I believe also that it is, because of the principle that we have to know our audience/learners first before we can teach them and make them learn. We have to know their needs, level and capacity. Production of materials and other things that are needed in the process of learning is important because this is where learners are motivated. In this module I learned that the emphasis is given to the student and their learning with the environment. In order to become a good teacher if not efficient one must know first his/her learners, their behavior, interest, aptitude and their socioeconomics. Conduct an analysis what helps student to learn.
From the activity this afternoon, I learned also that student will learn faster and better if we help them realized why is it important for them to learn the lesson, let them believe that what they learn will help them in the future. We have to take in consideration also the factors that may hinder students learning, such as self confidence, maturity, behavior, interest, attributes of success and failures and learning style

This afternoon for me, is very interesting because the session started with an activity in which all of us were very excited to make our group T-shirt design featuring the culture of Visayas . Im so much impressed because our group won the best T-shirt design.
In the session proper, our facilitator presented to us the Instructional Development Stages which are the design, development, evaluate and revision. Furthermore we learned also the different instructional design models such as Dick Carey Model, Gagne-Briggs Model, Assure Model, and Addie Model. As form me, all the models presented were very useful to us .Hopefully we can apply these as we go back to work.

What are your reflections or insights on module 1?

I can say that I learned some useful information on the integration and infusion of technology in teaching. Though this seminar may be the same as some other seminars I have been through, but then new information and knowledge are still learned and encountered through cooperative sharing of the participants and the resource persons.


Reflection on Instructional Design Models

Four design models were presented by the resource person. As per assessment, I agree to the ADDIE model which I gathered was also the model which most schools used. It follows the basic learning assessment of a student based on the given lesson. I would also like to add my personal on the “re-teach” of the lesson which is not thoroughly understood by the students. Other participants shared their views on proceeding to the next lesson even though the previous one is not understood well due to a schedule which needs to be met. But as for me, I think I have to “re-teach” the lesson because there’s no use proceeding while students don’t understood the previous one which is a requisite to the next level.


Analysis of the Learner and the Environment

Reflection:

I like the way the module was presented this time. Compared to the other modules given previously, I find this one more appealing and challenging especially with the additional rebuttal of two educators regarding the concepts of equality in education. Examples given by Sir Meoh were really realities especially on the discussion on socioeconomics as parameter to learning. To wrap it all, the presentation this time is nice. Keep it up!

ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

I learned that in the Modern work force the learners are capable of using the technology successfully. The users become information seekers, analyzers and evaluators. They become creative and effective users of technology.
In technology as a solution, when you say technology infusion it means acquisition and installation of equipment into learning environment while technology integration putting together the tools/materials into instruction.
In the technology of instruction the learners learn how to use the computer and apply what they learned.

As a participant my insights regarding module I is that I was able to learn that technology has its advantages and disadvantages .It made me realized that having this seminar is very enriching to us teachers because with the use of technology, teaching for us is less stressful.

* In this module entitled “Analysis of the Learner and the Environment” I learned that before
going further with the activities in your classroom, we need to analyze first. We should consider important factors such as our learning environment-our classroom. Is it conducive to learning? Do we have proper ventilation? Do we have enough space where pupils can roam around to do group tasks? Then, we have to consider our clienteles-our pupils. Do we really know our pupils? Are we aware of their learning styles, intellectual capabilities, socio-economic status, etc.? It is important to know this so that we can match our activities to their level. Knowing these factors, we can analyze. Then we go to the next step. We can improve already our activities to develop
the learners.

The opening activity was enjoyable. Everyone in the group shared ideas in order to come up with the desired T-shirt design.

In this module I learned that PLANNING is very important. We should have a careful planning in making an instructional design, just like in the classroom setting. We should know our pupils/students very well so we know what lessons, what type of tests we give to them that fits their intellectual capability. We would also know whether to move on to the next lesson or we give more time to them to master a particular lesson/skill. After knowing our students, we would be able to come up with a comprehensive plan on how to implement our lessons.

What I learned from the activity that we had this afternoon was that before we create an instruction design model we should plan first of what to do. Know the target client/learners. We have to plant first before we make a design or project. Make a step by step description of instructional specification from the analysis of the learning goals. Develop the delivery system for the implementation and evaluation of the instructional plan.
In making a design we should also to take in consideration the knowledge of the learners as a source of creating detailed specification for the development.
In reality a designer can start anywhere depending on his/her concept to complete the process.
The last topic presented was the different instructional design. These are the Dick and Carry Design model, Gagne-Bragg and model and the last one is ADDIE model. I think the Addie model is the most appropriate model to use.

Technology serves as a powerful tool to enhance teaching-learning process. It amplifies the traditional way of teaching. Teaching is more comfortable and easy, for it helps to motivate, to make learning meaningful to learners. It can keep the teacher and pupils not to be left behind in this modern world of technology.
My reflection of the Pedagogical Perspectives on the Role of Technology in Education (Module 1)

Module 1 presents to me the importance of technology in the learning-teaching process. It does not only be infused in the structure but also to be integrated in the whole system. However, the stumbling block of this venture in the public school system is the meager budget for education that deprives most of our schools in acquiring the necessary units that can be used in our classrooms. I believe that if the abandoned cyber Education project that was conceptualized by the Department of Education was implemented as programmed, it will benefit the thousands of the underprivileged public school students. That project, minus the kickbacks, pay offs and corruption, will revolutionize the teaching-leaning process and eventually equip every student the necessary tools needed in coping up with the fast changing technological world.

The topic on the Analysis of the Learner and the Environment, reenact my ideals on understanding every leaner in all my classes. It reminds me that my being a teacher is not only a profession but a vocation as well. Understanding and analyzing every learner suggests that a teacher shall not only observe the behavior of the student in the classroom, or inside the perimeter of the school campus but shall extend his observation to the community where he/she resides.

The Instructional Design Models (Module 2a) presented to us further add our knowledge to make our teaching methods effective. I am again reminded of our sworn duty to help each and every learner we have in our school. Despite the fact that I am given not less than six teaching loads with an average of 50 to 60 students per class, I am determined to renew my commitment to my teaching duties to make it more enjoyable and interesting to every learner with integration of modern technology.
MODULE 2 B : ANALYSIS OF THE LEARNER AND THE ENVIRONMENT

REFLECTION:
Determine the factors that affect student learning are the bases of the teacher in how to deal with the pupils. Creating learner’s analysis can assist the teacher on how to apply such design model to suit the capability of the student.

What are my reflections/insights/comments on module 2b?
(Analysis of the Learner and the Environment)

I realized that to be an effective teacher, I should know the needs of my students so I believe that Needs Analysis is important. In line with Learner analysis, it is also good for me to know the conditions that make students learn better and faster like when they: do hands-on activities, are physically and mentally healthy, are well-motivated, are in a place conducive for learning, are given constructive feedbacks, have inspiring and enthusiastic teachers, have clear objectives and are informed about the applications of the topics to real life situations.

It has been said that “The essence of education is connection. The key of to connection is to understand the learner.” It is significant, therefore, to be aware that students have different Cognitive, Phycho-social and Physiological characteristics. To be able to this, I need to go the extra mile to be more familiar with my students. Fortunately, Saint Louis School-Don Bosco does not only give me that opportunity, but it actually encourages us, Educators, to spend some time with our students outside the classroom especially in the playground where the children are more spontaneous in what we call Salesian presence or Salesianity. In Don Bosco’s Preventive system of education, educators don’t wait for the students to err to reprimand them, but we prevent them from committing mistakes by being with them through our animating presence. This demands efforts and dedication though, but it surely works, as evident by the success of more than 100 Don Bosco school all over the world. You should try it, too!
Reflection: Module 2 INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT STAGES AND
DESIGN MODELS


It started with an activity, t-shirt design contest which everyone shared ideas . Lecture followed which deals on the Instructional Design Models which was well explain by
Mr. Romeo D. Aquivido.All the four design models are very effective to use in the classroom but it depends on the initiative of the teachers. We can try to use the different instructional models and evaluate ourselves which is more effective or which design model is more suited to the pupils.

What are my reflections/insights/comments on module 2A?
(Instructional Design Models)

Firstly, I learned that Instructional design is a step by stem description of the instructional specifications from the analysis of learning goals, the development of the delivery system to the implementation and evaluation of the instructional plan. This is very important because it enables the educator to implement, evaluate and maintain the situations that facilitate the learning process.

I also learned that there are four stages in Instructional development, such as, Design, Development, Evaluation and Revision. We were also exposed to the four Design models: Dick & and Carey Model, Gagne-Briggs Model, ASSURE Model and the ADDIE Model. More emphasis was put on the last which means Analysis, Design, Development, Implement and Evaluation. I particularly prefer the ADDIE Model because it is simple and very application to our school setting.

Comments: The motivation for this topic was very exciting because we were asked to design and model a t-shirt with very limited materials and time. Personally, I kind of like also the modeling part. For the actual presentation of the topic, in fairness, it was not bad at all.
What are your reflections or insights on Module 1?

Module 1 gives information on how to use the new technology in our lessons.
Convert traditional techniques in teaching into a modernize way by using new technology. Shows a clearer insights of the advantages and disadvantages of using the computer.As a whole the new technology provides a great role in the learning process.

What are your reflections or insights on “Module 2: Instructional Development Stages and Design Models”

We were so eager to make the design of our T-shirt that we failed to notice the “Visayas” detail which is the topic of the suppose designs. True to reality, we teachers tend to be so excited over the making of instructional materials or designs that we fail to consider the receiver. The students should be the center of all our learning objectives. The speaker presented four models which are useful to making instructional designs. Due to the need of finishing a desired curriculum and instruction, we failed to consider that each pupil is a learner and thus deserve to understand the lesson before moving to the next topic. I was saddened that in reality, which we cannot deny, we tend move to the next lessons even if some did not understand yet. Although many factors had contributed to this dilemma, a solution might help, if not totally eradicate, minimize. I think this is where technology comes in.

The speaker, although may have delivered the topic faster than expected due to short time, had made a clear presentation.

What are your reflections or insights on “Module 1: The Pedagogical Perspective on the Role of Technology in Education”

Today, I learned about the roles of technology in education which indeed not only aid teachers in classroom instructions but as well divert student’s attention from idleness to interest in even the most boring subjects. Technology amplifies learning into more concrete and realistic one. It also transforms the learning situation into a dynamic process. It motivates the students, more especially nowadays, that students are visual- motivated. We cannot also deny that students now are more knowledgeable in terms of the use of technology than the older ones. I am also an advocate of the project in having per classroom a computer set and a television for this really will help improve teaching-learning situation.

What are your reflections or insights on “Module 2b: Analysis of the Learner and the Environment”

The learners are the heart of every instruction, thus all lessons must gear toward them. The effectiveness of each every learning instruction depends mainly on the understanding achieved by each learner. A lesson will not be a success if it will not cater to the needs of every learner. Thus, it is in my full agreement when the speaker reiterated that the teacher must be alive, alert and enthusiastic but never will he/she be the center of the stage but only the facilitator of learning.

What are my reflections/insights on module 1?
(Pedagogical Perspectives on the role of Technology in Education)

I believe that technology plays a vital role in educating the children/youth of today. Foremost, although there are some disadvantages, but the advantages greatly outweigh them. It is a fact that the children/youth of this generation are so fascinated with modern technology like Cellular phones, I-pods and computers. Thus, technology seems to compete with educators for the pupils’/students’
attention. So, to make our lessons more palatable, we have no other choice but to use technology to our advantage. Technology infusion and technology integration, therefore, are a necessity now. The former is the acquisition and installation of technological equipment like computers, LCD projectors, etc. while the latter is the use of these equipment to enhance classroom instruction.

As it has been said, “Technologies are amplifiers and transformers.” On one hand, they increase pupil/student interest and lengthen pupil’s/student’s span of attention, on the other hand, they transform the traditional classroom setting to a more exciting, contemporary one.
Insights: (Module II Instructional Development Stages and Designs Model)


This afternoon for me, is very interesting because the session started with an activity in which all of us were very excited to make our group T-shirt design featuring the culture of Visayas . Im so much impressed because our group won the best T-shirt design. In the session proper, our facilitator presented to us the Instructional Development Stages which are the design, development, evaluate and revision. Furthermore we learned also the different instructional design models such as Dick Carey Model, Gagne-Briggs Model, Assure Model, and Addie Model. As form me, all the models presented were very useful to us .Hopefully we can apply these as we go back to work
Insights: (Module I: Pedagogical Perspectives on the Role of Technology in the Classroom)




As a participant my insights regarding module I is that I was able to learn that technology has its advantages and disadvantages .It made me realized that having this seminar is very enriching to us teachers because with the use of technology, teaching for us is less stressful.

Insights: Module 2B – Analysis of the Learner and the Environment

In this module, we discussed on how students or people usually learn. As we know, students have different ways of learning so we must always take into account that they have multiple intelligences. In order for them to really learn, our lesson should also cater to their needs and to their level. We must consider that if the lesson is too difficult for their level then it would really be difficult for them to cope up. Also, we must consider the environment in which they are learning, if it is really conducive to learning or not. There are really many factors that affect on how our students learn so we must consider what needs to considered and do what really needs to be done.

Insights: Module 2A – Instructional Design Model


In this module, we learned about the different instructional models and how it could help us in making our lesson plans in order to implement our lessons. Basically, there were four models that were introduced to us which are the Dick and Carey Model, Gagne- Briggs Model, ASSURE Model and ADDIE Model. Although there were four models that were introduced, the discussion was focused on one model which is the ADDIE Model. In this model, it starts with the analysis of your pupils, their competencies and their needs. Then from there we proceed with the design which is the making of the objectives of the lesson. After that is the development of the lesson and then the implementation of the design and the last one is the evaluation of the design, if it is effective or not.

Personally, I think this instructional design is effective and feasible if we would really apply it in the way we design our lessons. But then there are also limitations or let’s say difficulties if we implement it. First is that it might take time if we really assess each of our pupils’ competencies or needs. It would prove to be difficult if a teacher has to make not only one preparation but four. Second is that if we have target lessons to finish or time table to follow, then it would delay our lesson more. I am also not yet very familiar with this model so it would to take time to really be able to implement it properly. But hopefully, I would be able to really apply it in class.
Insights: (Module 1- Pedagogical Perspectives on the Role of Technology in the Classroom)

This morning, we learned on how technology can be infused or integrated in the classroom. Technology can be used as a subject or a tool for learning. We can integrate it in different learning areas depending on how effectively we can use it. It could b applied in English, Math, Science and other learning areas but it’s up to us on how creative can we be in using technology in the classroom. Technology can also be considered as an amplifier and transformer in learning. It can be considered as an amplifier, in a sense that technology can be a bridge to make our lessons much easier for the kids. It is also likened as a transformer because it transforms our lessons to be able to make it understandable for the learners.

In my opinion, technology would really be a big help for us teachers if we just know how to use it correctly. It is also much more interesting for the kids because it utilizes their different senses thus maximizing their learning. It could also extend their attention span because they would really be fascinated with the use of technology in the classroom. Although the results are not instant, but then it’s much more gratifying for the part of the teacher because our kids would really learn something from us at the same time they can also have fun.

Instructional Design Models Reflections

ADDIE – Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate

Reflections:

Designing an instructional material is very important in teaching-learning process. It actually enhances learning. But, unfortunately, this is the first time that I encounter different models in instructional design. As far as I understand, in ADDIE model is more appropriate especially in designing an instructional material for the college students. It actually directing a more appropriate outcomes in teaching-learning process.

My comment is, the lecturer did not actually elaborate the actual steps in the proper implementation of the different models in practical application in our respective levels in education.

Reflection_Module1

My reflections or insight on module 1 are the following:
a) Technology integration is a powerful tool to increase the learning outcomes of the students.
b) Technology integration could be better implemented if the teachers concerned are already well trained in using technology.
c) Lastly, if we use technology in our classroom, definitely the student that we will produce could be a world class graduates that could compete globally.
