What are my reflections/insights on module 1?
(Pedagogical Perspectives on the role of Technology in Education)
I believe that technology plays a vital role in educating the children/youth of today. Foremost, although there are some disadvantages, but the advantages greatly outweigh them. It is a fact that the children/youth of this generation are so fascinated with modern technology like Cellular phones, I-pods and computers. Thus, technology seems to compete with educators for the pupils’/students’
attention. So, to make our lessons more palatable, we have no other choice but to use technology to our advantage. Technology infusion and technology integration, therefore, are a necessity now. The former is the acquisition and installation of technological equipment like computers, LCD projectors, etc. while the latter is the use of these equipment to enhance classroom instruction.
As it has been said, “Technologies are amplifiers and transformers.” On one hand, they increase pupil/student interest and lengthen pupil’s/student’s span of attention, on the other hand, they transform the traditional classroom setting to a more exciting, contemporary one.
